Rishi Sunak, Elected leader of the Conservative Party, will be the first Asian-born British Prime Minister
Indian-born British politician Rishi Sunak was elected unopposed as the head of the Conservative Party, after which he will be the country’s next prime minister.
Rishi Sunak and Penny Mordant were in the running for the leadership of the Conservative Party, but Penny Mordant was incapable to secure the support of the required 100 Tory MPs, after which she drew from the race.
The party’s returning officer also announced that 42-year-old Rishi Sonik was elected unopposed as chief. After getting the party leadership, Rishi Sunak will be the Prime Minister of Great Britain and he will be the first British Prime Minister of Asian descent.
Rishi Sunak will be the 57th Prime Minister of Great Britain and he is the third Prime Minister of Great Britain in the last three months Rishi Sonik has also been the Finance Minister of Great Britain.
Rishi Sunak’s father was a doctor and mother a pharmacist and both belonged to Indian Punjab.
Rishi Sunak is the son-in-law of Infosys founder NR Narayan Murthy, Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshita Murthy is one of Britain’s richest women.
It should be noted that British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation from her position in the past few days and she remained in office for only 45 days.
